About Eadweard Muybridge
Eadweard Muybridge was an English photographer famed for his captivating photographs of humans and animals in motion. His pioneering work of capturing movement on film was instrumental in building the foundation for the modern motion picture. He was nicknamed the "father of the motion picture". In 1878, his famous photographic experiment titled Sallie Gardner at a Gallop proved that galloping horses sometimes lift all four legs completely off the ground.
Family Life
He was one of the four sons born to Susan and John Muggeridge. He married Flora Shallcross Stone in 1872. The marriage produced a son named Florado Helios Muybridge.
Trivia
In 1874, he shot and killed Major Harry Larkyns, who was having an affair with his wife. He was tried for murder and acquitted on the grounds of justifiable homicide.
