About Earl Manigault
Earl Manigault was a legendary American street basketball player, whose outstanding basketball talent eroded over time as a result of his heroin addiction, robbing him of the opportunity to pursue a professional career.
According to some sources, he earned the moniker "The Goat" when a teacher mispronounced his surname as Mani-eh-galt. He grew up on the Upper West Side, where he used to play basketball with Lew Alcindor, who is now Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He was a little man, at just 6 feet 1 inch tall, yet he possessed a tremendous jumping ability that allowed him to soar over higher opponents. He was largely considered one of the all-time great playground basketball players.
Despite the fact that he never played in the NBA and only briefly in college, his fame went far and wide, with his accomplishments being celebrated in publications, books, and even a film titled “Rebound: The Legend of Earl "The Goat" Manigault”.
