Background and Education
The New York City-born former NFL player had his high school education at New Milord. After high school, he secured admission into Cornell University, where he featured prominently in the school’s football team.
Career
The former NFL player started playing football in high school. He continued to play when he went to college and set over 16 NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) records. He was drafted into the NFL in 1972. During his time in the NFL, he played for six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks. He scored 13 touchdowns during his career.
After retiring from football, he went into acting. The actor has made appearances in several television series like: “Laverne & Shirley” and “Sisters”. He was a cast member in “Hill Street Blues”, a police procedural TV series created by Michael Kozoll and Steven Bochco.
Marinaro was also in the TV comedy series “Blue Mountain State”, where he played the role of a head coach for three seasons.
Awards
Ed Marinaro was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1991.
In 2020, ESPN placed him at number 126 on the list of 150 greatest players in college football’s 150-year history.
Personal Life
He married Tracy York; the pair have a son together.
