The screenwriter is the son of a Jewish Butcher. He lived most of his youth in Philadelphia and enrolled at Columbia University. Weinberger quickly realized that school wasn't his initial passion and later dropped out.
Career
The screenwriter secured short contracts, which entailed writing for stand-up comedians such as Bill Cosby, Dick Gregory, and Richard Pryor. His growing success gave him the platform to partner with Bill Cosby to create the global sensation, "The Cosby Show", from 1969 to 1971 and the "Tonight Show," which aired from 1962 to 1992. Weinberger created the MTM Enterprise but left for Paramount Pictures in 1977. The screenwriter also has productions such as "Sparks", "Amen" and "Dear John".
Personal Life
Weinberger married Carlene Watkins in 1984. They had a son, Jack Weinberger, as of 2021.
