Edith Head was of American nationality and a costume designer by profession. She was an eight-time Academy Award winner. As a costume designer, she was first employed by Paramount Pictures.
She also worked with Universal Pictures.
Education
She studied at California University and Stanford University.
Personal Life
She was the child of Anna Levy and Max Posener. She married twice. First to Charles Head in 1923 but divorced him in 1938 – then to Wiard Ihnen in 1940. She was once a French teacher.
Death
Head died of myelofibrosis in 1981.
Awards
She won the Academy Award for “Best Costume Design” in 1949, 1950, 1951 (2), 1952, 1953 (2), and 1954.
