About Edith Roosevelt
Edith Roosevelt has been credited for transforming the First Lady position in the United States. As the second spouse of America’s 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt, Edith is known for institutionalizing the office of the First Lady, as well as helping to renovate the White House.

Though they developed some romantic connection during that period, Theodore married his first wife Alice Lee in 1880. Lee, unfortunately, passed away four years later, which led Theodore to marry Edith in 1886.
