About Edward Gorey
Edward Gorey was a celebrated American writer, illustrator and poet known for his numerous famous illustrated books such as The Gashlycrumb Tinies , The Doubtful Guest and The Headless Bust: A Melancholy Meditation on the False Millennium. In 1969, he published one of his famous poetry collections entitled The Iron Tonic. Throughout his career, he wrote over 100 books and illustrated over 50 works by other authors.

He was born to Helen Dunham and Edward Lee Gorey. He never got married nor had any children of his own.
Trivia
When he died, he willed majority of his estate to a charitable trust benefiting animals.
His designs for the Broadway production of Dracula in 1977 won him a Tony Award for Best Costume Design.
