About Edward Herrmann
He was an American actor, director, and writer. He starred in the 2000 - 2007 American comedy-drama series, "Gilmore Girls" where he portrayed Richard Gilmore. Edward Herrmann started off his acting career in theatre. He debuted on Broadway in 1972.
He died of brain cancer in 2014 at the age of 71. Some of his acclaimed works include; "The Day of the Dolphin" (1973), "The North Avenue Irregulars" (1979), "The Man with One Red Shoe" (1985), "A Civil Action" (1998), "Redemption: For Robbing the Dead" (2011), "The Town That Dreaded Sundown" (2014), and more.

His parents are father, John Herrmann and mother, Jean Eleanor. He got married to Leigh Curran in 1978 – their union ended in 1992. He married Star Roman in 1993 and they both stayed married until his death in 2014. He was survived by children namely Rory, Ryan and actress, Emma Herrmann.
