About Eileen Brennan
Eileen Brennan was an American actress known for starring in the 1980 comedy film Private Benjamin, in which she played the character Captain Doreen Lewis. From 1981 to 1983, she played the same character in the TV adaptation of the film and won a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy Award for her performance on the series. Her other notable television credits include Taxi, thirtysomething and Will & Grace.
Family Life
She was the daughter of actress Regina Menehan and John Brennen. In 1969, she got married to David John Lampson, with whom she had two children. The marriage ended in divorce in 1974.
Trivia
She was lucky to escape with her life after being violently hit by a drunken driver in 1982. The accident left her with grave injuries, which eventually caused her to become addicted to painkillers.
