About Elgin Baylor
Elgin Baylor played as a small forward for the now Los Angeles Lakers for 14 seasons. He helped the team to win the NBA championship in 1972. After his playing career, he worked as a coach and was mostly with the New Orleans Jazz. He also served in other administrative positions and spent more than two decades with the Los Angeles Clippers as its general manager.

Education
He began his career during his time at Phelps Vocational High School. He continued at College of Idaho. He also attended Seattle University.
Awards
In 1958, he received the Helms Foundation Player of the Year prize. His name was included in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1977. As an administrator, he was crowned the NBA Executive of the Year in 2006.
Trivia
The Seattle Redhawks and the Lakers have retired the number 22 in his honor.
His statue was unveiled at the Lakers’ Staples Center in 2018.
His brothers were also basketball players.
