About Elisabeth Kübler-Ross
Elisabeth Kübler-Ross started working as a psychiatrist in the 1960s when she joined the Manhattan State Hospital after moving back to the United States. During her time at the health facility, she dealt with people who were described as a "hopeless patient", as well as schizophrenia patients.
She also goes into the history books as one of the earliest professionals to contribute to the near-death studies. The Swiss-born American psychiatrist is also credited for propounding the “five stages of grief model” which tries to explain what people go through when they are suffering from grief.
As an author
In 1969, Kübler-Ross published arguably her most popular book titled “On Death and Dying”. She also won the heart of many with her numerous publications with some titled “Death: The Final Stage of Growth” and “AIDS: The Ultimate Challenge”.
Personal Life
She was born a triplet. In 1958, she was married to Emanuel Ross, with whom she had two kids named Barbara Ross and Ken Ross.
Education
She was a graduate of the University of Zurich.
Honors
Kübler-Ross was ushered into the prestigious National Women's Hall of Fame in 2007. She was named one of the 20th Century’s “Most Important Thinkers” by Time magazine.

She was inspired by people like Mahatma Gandhi and Carl Jung.
During WWII, she attended to many refugees while working as a lab assistant.
By the end of 1982, she had trained about 125,000 students.
