Ellie Black is the first gymnast from Canada to receive an all-round medal at the world championship. She achieved this feat in 2017 when she won silver at the 47th edition of the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships.
As one of her country’s most successful gymnasts in history, Black has excelled in other popular competitions like the Commonwealth Games, the Pacific Rim Championships, and the Pan American Games.
Family
She had the privilege to spend her early years with her parents Katharine and Thomas Black. Her sister, Karen, is into figure skating. She’s the sister of fellow gymnast William Black.

The gymnast has studied at Dalhousie University.
Decorations
By the end of 2019, Black had won three and five gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, and the Pan American Games, respectively. A year before that, she was honored with the Order of Nova Scotia for her contribution to the sport.
