About Emily Carr
Emily Carr was a highly-rated Canadian artist whose works were centered on nature and the indigenous people of her country. A student of both the Post-Impressionism and Modernism styles of art, Carr was one of the earliest artists who tried to portray the spirit of her country in a contemporary style.
At the age of 27 years, she visited some Aboriginal villages which later inspired most of her works. Some of her well-known works were titled “Among the Firs” and “Autumn in France”.
As a writer
Aside from her paintings, Carr was also famous for her writings. In 1941, she published perhaps her most popular piece which was a memoir titled “Klee Wyck”. She also published many books which included “The House of All Sorts” and “The Book of Small”.
Family
She spent her childhood with her parents Emily and Richard Carr. Emily had eight siblings which included Elizabeth Carr, Edith Carr, and Thomas Carr.
Education
This celebrity attended the San Francisco Art Institute and later graduated from the Westminster School of Art.

She has been labeled a “Canadian icon” by the Canadian Encyclopedia.
One of her works entitled “The Crazy Stair” was purchased at $3.39 million in 2013.
