About Emily Dickinson
Emily Dickinson was an American poet widely regarded as one of the most significant poets in the history of America. Although she wrote nearly 1,800 poems, only about a dozen of these poems were published during her lifetime. Her popular poems include Hope is the Thing with Feathers, Because I Could Not Stop For Death, The Only News I Know, and My Eye is fuller than my vase.
Family Life
She was the daughter of Edward Dickinson and Emily Norcross. She had two siblings, William Austin and Lavinia. She never married nor had any children.
Trivia
She was an extremely reclusive person who was often reluctant to even come out of her bedroom to greet guests. Her reclusiveness made a significant majority of her poems remain hidden until after her death, when her sister stumbled across them.
