About Emma Goldman
Emma Goldman was a political activist, writer, and speaker known for her role in developing the anarchist political philosophy in both the United States of America and Europe, with her role in its development brought into the light for the larger audience in the 1970s, spurred by the reissuance of her biography, Living My Life, and feminist Alix Kates Shulman’s release of Red Emma Speaks, which is a collection of Goldman’s writing and speeches. Although Goldman had many supporters for her rebellious ways, she also had her fair share of detractors mainly due to her sometimes violent approach (she was even deported from the U.S.)
Her Works
Some of Emma Goldman’s writings include: Anarchism and Other Essays (1910), The Social Significance of the Modern Drama (1914), and My Disillusionment in Russia (1923).
