Known for being the 1990 World Series Champion and a 2-time All-Star member, Eric Keith Davis is a former center fielder who played for notable teams such as the Detroit Tigers and the Baltimore Orioles.
Early Life
The baseball player was born to Shirley Davis and Jimmie Davis. He later went on to enroll at the John C. Fremont High School and then moved to the Crenshaw High School.
Career
The former outfielder made his professional debut with the Cincinnati Reds in 1984 and played with the team until 1991. He went on to sign a new contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1992 and played for more than a year before leaving to join the Detroit Tigers, where he played from 1993 to 1994.
Eric Davis also played for other teams such as the Baltimore Orioles from 1997 to 1998 and St. Louis Cardinals from 1999 to 2000. He featured for the San Francisco Giants until his retirement in 2001.
Achievements
In recognition of his stellar contribution to the sport, he was inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame. In 1997, he was honored with the Roberto Clemente Award. While playing for the Cincinnati Reds, he also won the Silver Slugger Award twice – in 1989 and 1987.
