About Esteban Echeverría
Esteban Echeverria is best known for his remarkable works, most notable of them are “El Matadero” and “La Cautiva”. To many, he was one of the most respected Argentine authors of the 19th century.
Career
His romantic liberalism was inspired democratic nationalism of Giuseppe and utopian socialist doctrines of French philosopher Henri de Saint-Simon.
He lived in Paris for five years. He was the youngest Argentine member of the intellectuals that enabled Argentina move towards independence.
He was exiled in 1840 to Uruguay where he remained till he died. While in exile, he wrote the story “La Insurrection”.
Echeverria wrote works like “La diamela”, “Canciones”, “La nouche, Mangora' ', and “Carlos”.
