About Eugene Byrd
Eugene Byrd is an American actor and producer known for his role as “Dr. Edison” in the FOX series “Bones”. He was also cast as James in “Bad Attitudes”, a 1991 TV film directed by Alan Myerson.
Background and Education
He comes from Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. For his education, he went to The Greene Street Friends School and graduated in 1989. He then went to a private school called Crefeld School.
Career
He started acting at the young age of 12. He acted in the classic children’s show “Sesame Street” as “Jelani”. He performed in this show from 1987 to 1990. After he left the show, he played roles in successful works like; “Murder in Mississippi”, “The Cosby Show” and the mystery show “Ghostwriter”. In the latter, which was a 1990s series created by Liz Nealon, he was cast as Walter Haines.
In 1993, he was given a leading role as “Oliver Cross” in the series “Chris Cross”. The series, which saw Byrd star alongside Simon Fenton and Rachel Blanchard, was cancelled after thirteen episodes.
In 1995, Byrd played a leading role with Johnny Depp in the film “Dead man”, a Jim Jarmusch-directed Western film. He was also cast in the thriller “Sleepers”. He didn’t play any major role until 1998, when he played the role of “Lawrence” in “Promised Land”. He has also appeared in some movies like; “8 mile”, “Anacondas: The Hunt for The Blood Orchid” and” For Your Love”.
Achievements
In 1992, Eugene Byrd won a Young Artist Award for “Best Young Actor” in the TV film “Perfect Harmony”. He won the Break-Out Performance Award at the Method Fest Independent Film Festival in 2006 for his lead role in “Confess”.
