About Fernando Gago
Former soccer star Fernando Gago started playing professionally in 2004 with Boca Juniors, a well-known Argentine club. He signed with Real Madrid in 2007 and played for the team until 2012, having spent the 2011/2012 season on loan with Roma.
The retired defensive midfielder had a one-year spell with Valencia (which also sent him on loan to Vélez Sarsfield) and returned to Boca Juniors for a second stint.
The six years with Boca were riddled with injuries, limiting his appearances for the club. He joined Vélez Sarsfield for a second stint in 2019 and officially retired in November 2020.
Family Life
He has been the husband of Argentine former tennis player Gisela Dulko. They are parents to a daughter and two sons.
Achievements
He was a member of the Argentine squads which won the 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup, and the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Trivia
In January 2021, he got hired as the manager of the Argentine club Aldosivi.
