He is a Dominican-American professional baseball player, known to be a pitcher.
Career
His career started in 1997 when he was signed by the Detroit Tigers as a free agent even though he was an amateur player. He later had to undergo Ulnar Collateral Ligament Reconstruction when he injured himself. He got into the major leagues in 2002 and played for Toledo Mud Hens. He spent some of the time between 2002 and 2005 playing for the Detroit Tigers. He took Troy Percival’s place as closer after he got injured.
In 2009, he went on to play with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Even though he was a pitcher, it was announced in 2010 that he will be the new closer of the team. In 2012, he became a member of the Tampa Bay Rays and about two years later, Seattle Mariners made him join them after signing a two years contract with them. Later, he was traded to the Chicago Cubs in 2015. The following year, he signed another contract with San Diego Padres for a year. Other teams he has played for include Miami Marlins, Arizona Diamondbacks, Minnesota Twins, Oakland Athletics, Sugar Land Skeeters and Toros de Tijuana among others.
