About Floyd Patterson
International Boxing Hall of Famer Floyd Patterson is considered as one of the talented heavyweight boxers to ever participate in the sport. The American boxer started gaining attention in 1952 when he won a gold medal at the Olympics Games. That same year, he won the National Amateur Middleweight Championship which laid the foundation for his professional career.
He made his professional debut in 1954, and after a number of fights, he was considered for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship. He won the belt two years later and defended it until 1962.
