Frances was an incredible American television star who graced the screens of her audience with her appearance in lots of great shows.
Personal Life
She was given the name Frances Hussey Sternhagen when she was born, and she was the only child of her parents, they were Gertrude Hussey and John M. Sternhagen, a Tax Court Judge in the USA. She got educated at Vassar College where she started living her dream in the drama club; eventually becoming the head of the club. She later got into Catholic University of America. She also studied at Perry Mansfield School of the Theatre. While in the Catholic University, she met Thomas Carlin and they had a relationship which led to marriage. In 1956, they got married and had six children but he passed away in 1991.
Career
She loved the arts so much that when she started working, she was in the singing, dancing and acting field. She later started teaching at Milton Academy. In 1948, she acted in “Angel Street” and “The Glass Menagerie” at the summer theater. She first acted in the movie “Up and Down Staircase” where she was cast as Charlotte Wolf in 1967. She went on to play the role of Carla Taylor in “Independence Day”. Prior to her film debut, she made an appearance in “Westinghouse Studio One” television series in 1956.
