Francis Xavier was a Navarrese Basque Roman Catholic missionary.
His Life
Francis Xavier is most famous for co-founding a group called The Society of Jesus. During his life, he took vows of poverty and chastity while also traveling around to spread the word of his religion. One of his most famous journeys was to the continent of Asia. Much of his missionary work was in India, Japan, and Boreo. Because of his extensive missionary work, many consider Xavier to be the greatest Christian missionary since St. Paul. In Spain, there is a day named after Xavier that marks the day that he died.
