About Francisco I. Madero
Francisco Ignacio González worked as a writer before turning his attention to politics in the 1900s. He published a book in 1908 titled “The Presidential Succession in 1910” and established a newspaper company named El Demócrata before deciding to compete in the 1910 presidential elections.
Known for his frequent attacks on then President of Mexico, Porfirio Díaz, González was arrested and jailed a few days before the elections. He managed to escape and came up with a document titled “Plan of San Luis Potosí” which is widely described as the foundation of the 1910 Mexican Revolution.
As the leader of the Anti-Reelectionist Party, González became Mexico’s 37th President after Díaz went into exile in 1911. He was also overthrown by a coup two years later.

Education
González studied at UC Berkeley. He also attended Lycée Hoche, as well as HEC Paris, both in France.
Death
He was captured during the 1913 coup and was later assassinated in what would be known as the “Ten Tragic Days”.
