About Frank Frazetta
American artist Frank Frazetta gained a reputation as one of the 20th century’s most distinguished illustrators. He worked in the fantasy and science fiction genres and was famous for his comic books, paintings, paperback book covers, LP record album covers and posters. He debuted in Hollywood by painting the poster for the 1965 film, “What’s New Pussycat?” after United Artists studio saw his painting of Ringo Starr of the Beatles. He was nicknamed the “Godfather of fantasy art”.
Family Life
He was raised in Brooklyn, New York City along with three sisters. He was married to Eleanor Frazetta from 1956 until her death in 2009. They had four children together.
Achievements
He received three Chesley Awards, a Hugo Award and the 1995 Spectrum Grand Master of Fantastic Art Award. He is an inductee of the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame and the Science Fiction Hall of Fame.
Death
He died on May 10, 2010 from a stroke.
