About Frank James
Frank James joined the Confederate States army in 1861 during the American Civil War. Later that year, he was captured by the Union army, but was released on parole. In 1863, this soldier joined the William Clarke Quantrill-led guerrilla troop.
Later that year he participated in the infamous Lawrence Massacre which also made him infamous in the United States. From 1868 to 1876, James contributed to not less than four robberies which resulted in the death of many civilians, especially bank workers. He was notoriously known for his role in the Northfield-Minnesota raid.
Family
He was born to Zerelda James and her reverend minister husband Robert Sallee James. Jesse James, a notorious American outlaw, was his brother and together they committed many crimes. He was married to Annie Ralston James with whom he had a son.
Facts
His character in the 1939 film titled “Jesse James” was played by Henry Fonda.
Growing up, he had wanted to become a teacher.
