About Frank McCourt
Frank McCourt was a legendary Irish American author, educator, and civic entrepreneur. He was a former owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers who earned a Pulitzer Prize for his book “Angela's Ashes”, which is a tragicomic account of his childhood suffering and poverty.
He is also renowned for his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “Teacher Man”, published in 1998 and turned into a popular film in 1999. He established the McCourt School of Public Policy, Georgetown University's ninth school, with a $100 million donation in 2013.
He bought Olympique de Marseille from Margarita Louis-Dreyfus in 2016, a French Ligue 1 team.
Family
He was the oldest son of Irish immigrants Malachy Gerald McCourt, Sr., and Angela Sheehan. Malachy McCourt, Alphie McCourt, Michael McCourt, Margaret McCourt, Eugene McCourt, and Oliver McCourt were some of his other siblings.
Cheryl Floyd, a psychologist, and Alberta Small, with whom he had a daughter named Margaret McCourt, were two of his four marriages.
