About Frankie Frisch
He was a sportsman of American origins who played baseball for a few teams in the Major League Baseball (MLB) before becoming a manager and coached several clubs.
Personal Life
Even though lots of people called him ‘The Old Flash’ or ‘The Fordham Flash’, those were just his nicknames. The name he was given when he was born was Frank Francis Frisch and he was enrolled in Fordham Preparatory School where he completed in 1916. He continued his education at Fordham University. Before the university, he took part in basketball, baseball, track and football and continued playing at the university.
Career
In 1919 Frisch signed with the New York Giants and began playing professionally in the MLB. He was a great addition to the team and not long after joining them, he became the captain. He then moved on to play for the St. Louis Cardinals after being publicly berated by the manager John McGraw. In 1933, he became the manager for his team the Cardinals for about five years then in 1940, he worked with the Pittsburgh Pirates before working with the Chicago Cubs.
Trivia
In 1931 while he was with the Cardinals, he was named Most Valuable player.
Cause of Death
He lost his life in an accident when he lost control of his car. He was seventy-four years old at the time.
