Fred Trump was an American businessman and philanthropist who in the former regard established a real estate empire in the highly-coveted New York City. And whereas he may have been quite-popular in business circles during his day, in more modern times he is known primarily for fathering US President Donald Trump.
His parents were named Frederick and Elizabeth Trump, with the latter assisting him in establishing his real estate business.
His elder sister was named Elizabeth Walters, and his little brother was named John Trump.
He married a lady named Mary Anne MacLeod in 1936. And their children are Maryanne Barry (1937), Fred Jr. (1938), Elizabeth Grau (1942), Donald (1946) and Robert Trump (1948). Maryanne Barry went on to become a judge in the US Court of Appeals, and Donald Trump became President of the United States itself in 2017.
He ascended from very-humble beginnings, from building houses with his own hands to founding and running one of the greatest real estate companies in NYC.
He made his son, Donald, president of the Trump Management Company in 1971, which resulted in the business acquiring real estate in Manhattan. Prior to that, his real estate activities focused exclusively on the boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn.
Upon his passing, his estimated net worth was $300,000,000.
During his life, Trump was very active in philanthropy.
In 1927 he was arrested in Queens, New York for participating in an anti-police Ku Klux Klan protest.
In 1950s and 1960s he was investigated respectively by the US government and New York State due to allegations of profiteering.
In 1971 the US Justice Department sued the Trump Management Company for discriminatory housing practices.
His eldest son, Fred Jr., unfortunately passed away almost two decades before he did.
He was personal friends with Benjamin Netanyahu.
