Career
This self-taught multi-percussion instrumentalist was a perfectionist; he started his career playing for Motown Records. He played for the Temptations and Stevie Wonder. Waits moved to Harlem, where he became a member of the jazz percussion group M'Boom. He also performed with a number of renowned artists, including Ella Fitzgerald, Sonny Rollins, Johnny Hodges, Jackie McLean, and Reggie Workman.
Death
Freddie Waits died from renal failure in 1989. He was 46 years old.
