About Fredric Jameson
Fredric Jameson is a renowned American philosopher whose works on capitalism and post modernity have earned him lots of followers. He has spent most part of his career researching Karl Marx’s theories. He’s best known for his 1991 publication entitled “Postmodernism, or, The Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism”.
Aside from the above-mentioned book, the multiple award-winning scholar has written some books entitled “The Political Unconscious” and “The Cultural Turn: Selected Writings on the Postmodern”. Jameson has also taught at a number of institutions including Duke University’s Center for Critical Theory.
Education
After completing his education at Moorestown Friends School in 1950, Jameson joined Haverford College. He also attended Yale University.
Awards
He won the Holberg International Memorial Prize in 2008, and received the Lyman Tower Sargent Distinguished Scholar Award the following year. He was honored with his sixth Modern Language Association’s “Lifetime Scholarly Achievement” in 2012.
Trivia
He was influenced by his teacher, Erich Auerbach.
In 2007, Ian Buchanan published an overview of his works which he titled “Fredric Jameson: Live Theory”.
