Versatile Columbian soccer star Fredy Guarín is famed for playing in the defensive and midfield positions.
Career
Before signing for Millonarios, a club in Columbia, he had plied his trade for a host of other well-known soccer clubs across the globe. He started his professional career with Colombian team Atlético Huila in 2002.
Between 2008 and 2012 Guarín spent four seasons with Portuguese club Porto before spending another four seasons with Italian club Inter Milan.
He also played in China for the Chinese team Shanghai Shenhua. He had a one year stint with Brazilian club Vasco da Gama.
His international career has seen him feature for Colombia’s under-17 and under-20 teams. In 2006 he featured for the first time for the Columbian senior national team in a friendly encounter against Ecuador. He went on to play many more games for the national team including being part of the teams that played at the Copa América in 2011 and 2014’s FIFA World Cup.

He is a father to Jacob, Danna, Daniel Guarín. His parents are Fredy Guarín and Silvia Vásquez.
Honors
In addition to winning the Primeira Liga three times with Porto, he also won the UEFA Europa League with the team in the 2010-11 season.
He also won the Chinese FA Cup, playing for Shanghai Shenhua.
