About Frenkie de Jong
Frenkie de Jong is a celebrated Dutch professional soccer player. Though he mostly plays as a central midfielder, he’s very versatile and has been used in different attacking positions. His journey to fame began in 2016 when he joined Dutch team, AFC Ajax.
He joined Dutch side Willem II at a very young age and played for the club’s junior teams. However, he played his first Eredivisie match in 2015.
During the period he spent at AFC Ajax, he won the Eredivisie trophy, as well as, the KNVB Cup. He signed for Spanish side, FC Barcelona in 2019.
He’s played for different youth teams for his nation but made his senior debut in 2018 when he came on as a substitute against Peru.
Achievements
Frenkie was named the Eredivisie Player of the Year in 2019. That same year, he won the UEFA Champions League Midfielder of the Year, and was selected into the UEFA Champions League Team of the Year.
