Friedrich Hayek was a renowned economist and philosopher, well-regarded in the study of economics for his stand on classical liberalism, which puts heavy emphasis on economic freedom, and for his works in monetary policies and business cycles. For his outstanding work in the field, he was awarded with the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 1974, a recognition he shared with fellow economist Gunnar Myrdal.
