About Gabby Hartnett
American professional baseball player and manager Gabby Hartnett was known by the moniker "Old Tomato Face." He was a superior catcher, which made him very famous.
At 21, Hartnett made his Major League debut for the Chicago Cubs in 1922. He was known for his powerful and accurate ability in throwing.
In 1941, he worked as a player-coach with the New York Giants during his final year with the club. After his playing days, Hartnett kept up his baseball participation by coaching and managing in the minor leagues.
