Before her baffling disappearance in September 2021, Gabby Petito established herself as a popular internet personality, especially on Instagram. She gained fame for her survival adventures which earned her lots of admirers on the app.
On YouTube, she co-founded the channel called Nomadic Statik. The page was created in 2013, but the first post was made in August 2021 which was entitled “VAN LIFE | Beginning Our Van Life Journey”.
Petito's disappearance and reported death
According to police reports, Petito, together with her then boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, took off for one of their cross-country trips in July 2021. As planned by the couple, they travelled in Gabby’s van and were expected to visit national and state parks in the western part of the United States.
The police indicated that they received an emergency call in August where the caller claimed that the couple had some misunderstanding and fought. Petito’s family made it clear that they last spoke to their daughter on August 30.
Two days later, Laundrie returned to their home in Florida with their van but without his sweetheart. Petito was reported missing on 11th September. Eight days later, the police discovered human remains at a park in Wyoming which, according to them, fits the description of the missing internet star.
Family
She was the daughter of Nicole Schmidt and Joseph Petito. She had five other siblings. In 2020, she got engaged to Laundrie, whom she created the above-named YouTube channel with.
