Gene Tierney’s famed beauty is purported to have helped in her rise to stardom in Hollywood. The American actress began working on stage in 1938 and made her Broadway debut before she turned twenty.
After her performance in the play “The Male Animal” as Patricia Stanley in 1940, she transitioned to a motion picture career.
She made a name for herself through her portrayal of Laura Hunt in the film, “Laura”. She is also well-remembered for her role as Ellen Berent Harland in “Leave Her to Heaven”.

Her mother, Belle Lavinia Taylor, used to be a physical education instructor and her father, Howard Sherwood Tierney, had found wealth as an insurance broker.
She had two daughters from her first marriage to fashion designer Oleg Cassini. Her second husband was oil tycoon Howard Lee.
