George Kenney was a US Army general best known for leading the Allied Air Forces in the South West Pacific Area during the Second World War.
Early Years
Kenney was American but was born in Canada. He enrolled at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to study civil engineering; however, he dropped out and worked as a surveyor and engineer.
Military Career
He enlisted as a flying cadet in the First World War and later attended the Air Service Engineering School and the Air Corps Tactical School. Kenney also served in the Second World War and in 1942, became the commander of the Allied Air Forces.
Honors
