About George Tenet
In 1993, George Tenet was appointed into the National Security Council as the Senior Director for Intelligence Programs. After serving in the position for two years, he joined the Central Intelligence Agency as its Deputy Director.
He was promoted to the Director position in 1997 following the resignation of John Deutch. He held the office for seven years and served under both the Bill Clinton and George W. Bush-led governments. He has also worked as a professor at Georgetown University.
Family
He was raised by his parents John and Evangelia Tenet alongside a brother named Bill. He and Stephanie Glakas have a son called John Michael.
Education
Tenet attended the State University of New York at Cortland before enrolling at Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. He continued at Columbia University for his master’s program.
Honors
The American Academy of Achievement awarded him with the Golden Plate Award in 1998. Two decades later, he was celebrated with the Washington Institute's Scholar-Statesman Award.
Trivia
He was accused for his inability to come up with a plan which led to the 9/11 attacks.
Tenet became the managing director of Allen & Company, an investment bank, in 2008.
