About George Washington
George Washington was the first President of the United States. He served as President of the United States from 1789 to 1797. He was also the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. During his tenure as President, he established the cabinet system and the presidential inauguration address, which are still in use today. Over the years, he has been consistently ranked among the top three greatest American presidents of all time.
He was married to Martha Dandridge from 1759 until his death in 1799. He had two step children but no children of his own since he and Martha never had any children together.
He adopted the title "Mr. President" as his official manner of address as President. Today, the title is used by other governments to refer to their heads of state.
