About Georges Guynemer
Georges Guynemer was a French Air Service officer who is remembered best for the heroism he exhibited during World War I. Due to being a sickly person from childhood, his chances of being drafted for military service were affected. He was rejected five times but eventually entered the service as a mechanic trainee. He worked his way up to become a pilot in the French Air and Space Fighter squadron, Escadrille MS.3. He held the record of the second-highest number of victories (having shot down 54 aircrafts) as a fighter ace during the First World War.
Family Life
He was the son of Julie and Paul Guynemer. To note, Julie was the Countess of Saint-Quentin.
Death
He died at age 22 while in combat on September 11, 1917.
