About Georges Seurat
Georges Seurat was a French painter who is best remembered for creating the popular painting style Pointillism. His most notable work titled "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte", which he painted in the year 1884, began the famous Pointillist movement.
His other popular works include 1884's "Bathers at Asnières" and 1891’s "The Circus".
Family Life
Georges was born to Antoine C. Seurat and Ernestine Faivre. He had two older siblings - a sister named Marie-Berthe and a brother named Émile Augustin.
Trivia
He had a common law wife Madeleine Knobloch. Interestingly, he kept Madeleine hidden from his mother until his death.
Georges and his young son died on the same day. It is believed that the disease that killed Georges was the same one that also killed his son.
