About Georges Simenon
Belgian author Georges Joseph Christian Simenon was a well-learned and prolific writer with more than 100 works. The author is best known for his works, such as "La Veuve Couderc" in 1942 and "The Strangers in the House" in 1940.
Early Life and Education
The Belgian Novelist was born to Henriette and Désiré Simenon and had a brother called Christian Simenon. The author began life by learning to read and write at the Saint-Julienne nursery school, and later enrolled in Collège Saint-Louis in 1914. Following his father's heart condition, Simenon quit school in 1918 to chase his writing career.
Career
The author's Career began in 1919 when he worked as a newspaper editor. During this time, he wrote more than 150 articles and began submitting his stories in the early 1920s. Simenon is best known for his 75 novels and 28 short stories, which featured Commissaire Maigret, who became one of the world's most accepted fictional detectives. Other best sellers of Simenon are "Maigret and the Yellow Dog" in 1931, "Le Fou De Bergerac" in 1932, and "The Bottom of the Bottle" in 1949.
Personal Life
Simenon got married to Denyse Ouimet from 1950 to 1964 but was once married to Régine Renchon in 1923. He died in 1989.
