About Germán Denis
Argentina-born striker Germán Gustavo Denis is known for his goal-scoring ability and his physical strength. He played for the national team Argentina as well as Italian clubs such as Napoli and Atlanta. The striker made appearances at the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Champions League.
Career
Denis began his career in 1997 playing for Talleres de Remedios de Escalada in Primera B Metropolitana. He played there for two seasons making over 30 appearances and scoring more than 20 goals. He moved to Club Atlético Los Andes, in Lomas de Zamora in 2000 and played there for only one season. He continued to play in Primera B Nacional before A.C Cesena signed him.
The striker returned to Argentina and the Primera Division in 2003 and played two seasons for Arsenal de Sarandi before leaving to Colón where he played for the 2005-06 season. He made over 36 appearances and scored over ten goals.
Denis moved to C.A Independiente to play for the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. He made over 65 appearances and garnered more than 35 goals.
At the end of the 2008 season, he played for Napoli under the Serie A Division for two seasons and made an appearance at the UEFA Cup in 2008, where he scored his first official goal for Napoli against Vllaznia. He also scored in the UEFA Cup against Portuguese club Benfica.
The striker played for Udinese for the 2010 -11 and 2011-12 seasons before moving to play for Atlanta on a season-long loan after they attained promotion from Serie B. On June 19, 2011, Denis signed a three-year contract with the club. He scored on his last appearance in a 1-1 draw against Sassuolo on April 27, 2015. He went back to play for Independiente until 2017.
In August 2019, he was signed on a two-year contract with Serie C club to play for Reggina. After three years, he returned to Italy.
He played for Argentina national team five times.
Trivia
Denis was prohibited for five matches for bursting into the opponent's dressing room and for punching Lorenzo Tonelli, an Empoli defender.
