Geronimo joined forces with his fellow Native Americans and went up against the Mexicans when Mexicans killed his family including his 3 young children. He was captured in Arizona and was forced to stay away from his homeland for the rest of his life. He had 9 wives and around 11 children.

Geronimo is remembered as a fierce Indian warrior who became a celebrity, even attending the St. Louis World’s Fair. He fought for the right to live without interference from Mexican or American governments. He wanted the plains left to the Native Americans. He died as a prisoner of the U.S. government.
