About Gianluca Pagliuca
Pagliuca is the former goalkeeper of a number of Italian clubs, including Inter Milan, Bologna and Sampdoria. With the latter, he was a faithful servant, making almost 200 appearances in seven years.

He has a son called Mattia Pagliuca who is a football player and joined the Bologna football club in 2020.
Career Highlight and Achievements
During his youth career in football, he played for Bologna from 1984 to 1986. He made his senior debut with Sampdoria in 1987. He helped the club to reach the UEFA Champions League final only for them to be edged out by Spanish giants FC Barcelona.
After seven years with Sampdoria, Pagliuca transferred to Italian top flight club Internazionale in 1994. At Inter Milan, he assisted the club reach two UEFA Championship finals. He made over 160 appearances for Inter Milan before moving on to Bologna in 1999. His final year as a goalkeeper was spent at Ascoli, an Italian football club based in Ascoli Piceno, Marche.
In total, he made over 600 club football appearances.
He also played for the Italy national team and made about 30 appearances in eight years.
After he retired from football in 2006, he served as a youth coach for Bologna in 2014. He also served as a commentator on the international sporting media.
Honors
In 2021, he was inducted into the Inter Milan Hall of Fame.
He was awarded the Guerin d’Oro award by Guerin Sportivo for his performance in the 1996/1997 Serie A season.
With Sampdoria, he earned a Serie A title medal in the 1990/91 season. That season, he also won the Supercoppa Italiana title.
His 7-year stay with Sampdoria saw him win three Coppa Italia titles.
He steered Sampdoria to a UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in the 1989/90 season.
