About Gianni Agnelli
Born into a wealthy family, Gianni Agnelli was placed in charge of his family business which included the Fiat automobile company in 1966. During his tenure, the car manufacturing firm experienced a massive growth which led to the commissioning of offices in South America and Russia.
Considered as one of the richest personalities in the history of Italy, Agnelli controlled a little over 4% of the country’s GDP during his time as Fiat’s president. His innovation attracted lots of organizations including America’s General Motors which partnered his outfit in the 2000s.
Family
Giovanni Agnelli, his grandfather, was the founder of the Fiat company. His father, Edoardo Agnelli, was also a shareholder of the business. He was also the son of Princess Virginia Bourbon del Monte.
He was married to Princess Marella Caracciolo di Castagneto and together they raised two kids; Countess Margherita Agnelli de Pahlen, and Edoardo Agnelli III.
Education
At the University of Turin, he studied law.
Recognitions
He was decorated with many medals which included the Italian Medal of Merit for Culture and Art, and the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
Trivia
Agnelli was a soccer fan and invested in Italian club, Juventus Football Club.
