About Gilles Villeneuve
In spite of a relatively short Formula One career, Canadian racing driver Gilles Villeneuve became an icon of the sport. Prior to his Formula One debut with the McLaren team in 1977, he had competed in the Formula Atlantic championships for four years. From 1978 until his demise in 1982, he competed with the Ferrari team.
Family Life
His father, Seville Villeneuve was a piano tuner. His mother’s maiden name was Georgette Coupal. He and his wife, Joann Barthe had two children including Jacques Villeneuve who became a Formula One champion.
Achievements
He won six races in the Grand Prix.
