About Giorgio Vasari
Giorgio Vasari was an Italian painter, engineer, architect, historian and writer. He is remembered best for his book, “Lives of the Most Excellent Painters, Sculptors, and Architects”, a series of biographies of artists of the Renaissance period. Hence, he has been regarded as having laid the foundation for the idea of writing about art history.
He was the designer of the Tomb of Michelangelo, the Italian sculptor, painter and architect.
Personal Life
He was raised in the Tuscany region of Italy. He studied under stained glass painter Guglielmo da Marsiglia at a young age and then under High Renaissance painter Andrea del Sarto. He was a friend of Michelangelo.
