About Glenn Hall
Not only did Glenn Hall grab three Vezina Trophies and got stamped on the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Canadian sportsman was also, in 2017, listed among the 100 Greatest NHL Players in history. His illustrious playing career saw him feature seven times as an All-Star goaltender; and for his contribution to the sports, a monument at the Glenn Hall Park ─ named after him ─ was erected in Saskatchewan.
Career Outline
Glenn Hall had a successful youth career with the Humboldt Indians and the Windsor Spitfires between 1947 and 1950 until he rotated among the AHL, WHL and NHL for the Indianapolis Capitals, the Edmonton Flyers and the Detroit Red wings for the next six years.
From 1957, he concentrated on the NHL, where he played ten seasons for the Chicago Black Hawks and three for the St. Louis Blues.
After retirement, he coached the Calgary Flames goaltenders to win the 1989 Stanley Cup.
Major Records and Awards
With 407 career victories and one of the highest number of games started by a goalie, Glenn Hall gathered several honors, including Conn Smythe and Calder Memorial Trophies, a 7-time member of NHL All-Star Games. He was ranked 16th on the list of 100 Greatest Hockey Players by The Hockey News in 1998.
